down... following child molestation allegations. and this morning police are concerned there may be more victims. 30-year old samuel cowper was arrested at "mary's daycare" yesterday morning. he is the son of the daycare's owner. police also confiscated digital images of children. officials say two girls have come forward recently... to
report cowper molested them. one girl is now 13, but she says she was molested between the ages of 3 and 7. "during that time she's claiming that she was touched inappropriately ..at least twice a month over the span of four years â the second victim âis approximately 8 years old and she's claiming up til about two years ago â the suspect was taking pictures of her â while she was disrobed" according to the california department of social services... the state has temporarily closed the daycare facility. they have also taken steps to permanently revoke the license of the daycare owners.... cowper's parents. san jose police are on the hunt for two men.. they say scammed an elderly woman out of 12-thousand dollars. these are surveillance photos.. police say the woman was inside a target store when a man offered to sell her a bar of gold. the second man pretended to be a bystander, and offered to have
the gold appraised. he came back and said it was worth 25-grand. both men followed the woman to the bank, while she withdrew 12- thousand dollars to buy the gold, which turned out to be fake. police say similar crimes have occurred elsewhere around the state. the d-m-v employee accused of sending an offensive letter to a transgender customer... has resigned. 23-year old amber yust went into the san francisco d-m-v in october to register a sex change. four days later, she says she received a nasty letter at home from thomas demartini... the worker who helped her at the d-m-v. yust filed a damages claim against the california d-m-v... last week. software issues have forced a delay in getting samtrans buses to accept the clipper card. the card currently gives riders access to seven public transit agencies in the bay area. and samtrans was supposed to become the eighth this week. now, transportation officials say
that will not happen until next wednesday. crews still have to upload software onto card readers on the buses. and, bart may soon be open later on weekends. the new bart board president hopes to extend train operating hours 45 minutes to an hour past midnight... on saturdays. he says the change would help people who attend or work at entertainment and social events in the city. if the trains do run later... bart may have to consider starting service after 4 a-m on weekdays... to allow for track maintenance. the time is 6: it's a lifeline for thousands of people on disability or unemployment. coming up: the glitch that's keeping them from getting their money.. right before the holidays. californians on disability. the reason... the state is beginning a change-over to a new payment system, for most state benefits. recipients of those payments will have to carry a special debit card, issued by bank of america. "there is a little bit of a process for us... to get the information over to bof a for them to actually make the card and then get it into the mail, so it might take another ... day or two longer for you to get that card." the card roll- out started monday. people on disability and family medical leave will get them first. by next spring, people on unemployment will be getting the cards as well. a state appeals court has moved up the deadline for written
arguments relating to the proposed sale of state buildings. now three plaintiffs opposed to the sale must submit a brief by next thursday, instead of on the 29th. the court is accelerating the case at the request of governor schwarzenegger. he wants to raise one-point- two billion dollars by selling 11 state buildings and then renting them back. opponents say the plan will cost more than that in the long run. a california women's group has filed complaints against "hooters"... they claim the restaurant is providing sexual entertainment to minors. there have been 4 complaints in four counties... including san francisco and san mateo. the group says "hooters" is hiding behind a restaurant license... and that workers are sexual entertainers not food servers. the organization also claims "hooters" marketing has gone too far. the restaurant sells kid's t-shirts that say things like "hooters girl in the making", or "hooters girls dig me." "it's the normalization of sexual harassment, we don't

work at entertainment and social events in the city. the u-s senate is expected to vote tomorrow... on whether to end the "don't ask don t tell" policy on gays in the military. the house already approved the repeal, earlier this week. in the senate... those in favor of the repeal appear to have more than the 60 votes needed, to break a filibuster. the bill to extend tax cuts for two years is now heading to the president's desk. the house approved the measure late last night. the vote means taxes will not go up on january 1st... and unemployment benefits will be extended for another year. the founder of the whistle- blowing website "wikileaks" is now free on bail. julian assange was released yesterday from a jail in england. for now, he plans to live to a friend's mansion in the english countryside... while preparing for a legal battle. assange is trying to avoid extradition to sweden, where he faces sexual assault charges. "...i hope to continue my work and continue to protest my

police are looking for whoever stabbed a newark high school football star to death on wednesday. 300 people turned out last night to remember 17-year-old justice afoa... at the spot where he was killed. he was stabbed multiple times while waiting for a bus, in a possible act of revenge. his family says a few months ago, justice rescued a cheerleader at a party who was getting beaten by at least two men. police will only say past incidents may be connected to the murder. they're calling him armed and dangerous. the search is on this morning for the man who robbed a bank in san jose. he walked into the chase bank on monterey road, held a gun to the teller and demanded money. the teller complied, and the robber took off. no one is saying how much money he got away with. the man is about 5-feet-5 inches tall, weighing about 150-pounds. vandals and thieves are
